Automatic Identification System (AIS)

Compumatics Technology Ltd is a proud partner of Weatherdock AG, who is a leading manufacturer of electrical equipment for AIS, maritime navigation and safety purposes based in Nuremberg, Germany.

We are Authorised Distributor for Weatherdock Automatic Identification System (AIS) for Myanmar.

Weatherdock company was founded in 2003 by the three board members as a privately owned public corporation.

All of their products are developed in Nuremberg and produced at other locations but only in Germany.

The Weatherdock company is managed by its three board members Alfred Kotouczek-Zeise, Jürgen Zimmermann and Wolfgang Werner.

Myanmar is set to install automatic identification system (AIS) on its coastal and fishing vessels to ensure maritime security by Department of Marine Administration (DMA).

To control AIS and exchange navigation information, AIS stations will be established at 19 jetties and the range of the AIS would stretch to 48-80 kilometers.

Such installations will begin at the end of 2020 and all inland water transport ferries and coastal ships will have AIS by 2021. By adding the AIS in the vessels will also help track illegal activities of all ships around Myanmar coastal waters.

Department of Marine Administration (DMA) has type approved and permitted to provide service to the following AIS transceivers to Compumatics Technology Limited in 2020.

(1) Class A AIS – Saab R5 Supreme Class A

(2) Class B AIS (SOTDMA) – Easy TRX3 Class B (SOTDMA)

(3) Class B AIS (CSTDMA) – Easy TRX2 Class B (CSTDMA)

(4) Class B Portable AIS/Transponder – vmsTRACK-PRO-CS Class B

The AIS is a maritime communications device. It uses the very high frequency (VHF) radio broadcasting system to transfer data. AIS equipped vessels (shipborne AIS) and shore based stations (non-shipborne AIS) can use it to send and receive identifying information.

This identifying information can be displayed on an electronic chart, computer display, chart plotter or compatible navigation radar. AIS improves navigation safety and environmental protection by assisting in the effective navigation of ships

This identifying information can:

(a) aid in situational awareness

(b) provide a means to assist in collision avoidance.

The AIS can handle over 2000 reports per minute and may update information as often as every two seconds.
